I'm a senior driver with Reddaway. I've done both line and local. I was originally a Bestway driver. Yet, I'm very happy that Reddaway took over and has begun to fix our problems. The sales reps say we are already making money ahead of schedule. It was a very wise thing for Reddaway to get rid of ten bad Bestway terminals right away. The Reddaway business model is leaner, tougher, and smarter.

I'm proud to be a Reddaway driver. We have a great future together. We work for USF Reddaway, our parent company is Yellow/Roadway or YRC. There are over 80,000 employees nationwide. Over 77,000 of them union. We are the last 2500 employees, which are not yet union. The Teamsters are over 95% of our company. Most of Reddaway is already Teamsters. Reddaway makes money in states where the Teamsters represent the workers while paying higher union wages and benefits. If they can be profitable in Washington and Colorado with union benefits, why would you believe we won't?

The truth is; Southern Califoria is the bread basket of the company. We make more money is this 100 square mile area, than any other 5 states combined. Even Bestway, with all its problem areas, made a lot of money in Southern California. If any portion of the company deserves better benefits for all its hard work, its us right here. Every driver and dockworker deserves Teamster benefits and pension. Not because somebody is giving it to you, but because you EARNED it!!!

Please take part in the blog. Leave your comments for or againest the union. Let's keep it peaceful. No anger, profanity, or threats. We all have to work together the next day.

alot of employees ask why we should organize, when we are treated pretty good and have good wages and benefits?
while this is certianly true you have to realize that we are treated so well because the company in order to keep quality employees must compete with union companies.

we have to ask ourselves honestly, wouldn't we all like to have 20 years under our belt at a company like yellow or roadway? with a pension account that is fully funded?(find the facts not the propaganda)

I think I know who slow ride is. I will ask you next time I see you. Anyway, whats really happening? The company tells us nothing. One of Union guys out front, told me that the company and the Union had a meeting today. Is that true, or more bullshit?

Regarding the question about whether or not there was a meeting: every time something important happens during this effort to get a union at USF Reddaway, there's eventually an announcement on the teamster website, (check out the link on the left side of the page). And usually, we get information in the mail and/or on a flyer that's handed out at the gate.

I'm sure that we'll find out soon enough what happened.

Yes the company and the teamsters are meeting right now. Hope they can finish the contract. From what I hear, most everybody will like the contract.

Maybe we can give out beer at the front gate, it goes great with pizza.

Is it true that our pension will be 3.90 an hour instead of 3.00 like Texas? What do they get in the North?

The amounts that the company will contribute to our pension is still only a promise. However, we will not give up pressing for what Reddaway North gets for the pension. Now is not the time for doubt. The company wants to put us on hold for a few months. We will continue to pressure the company, and get cards signed. It's true, we only got 2 cards in the last 2 weeks, but we are not standing still. One of those cards was from a yard hostler, who was always againest the Union, but did not like the company lying about the pension.
